About Me

Who am I?

Hi, I'm Alana. I'm a writer living in the North-East of England and mother to a very energetic, and often challenging, 3yr old boy who changes his name on a daily/weekly basis. At present we have to call him Pirate Captain. Last week it was Jessica.

Why this blog?

I want my son to grow up with the knowledge and belief that he can be anything, and do anything he puts his mind to. The best way to teach him this, other than telling him regularly, is to show him through my own actions. I have always wanted to be a writer but it was a part of myself that I kept hidden for many years, like some secret addiction. This year I have made the decision to believe in myself and achieve my dreams. You can read more about my goals for the year here.

What's in it for you?

This blog is a way to share my experiences and hopefully inspire others to take up the same challenge. Although primarily aimed at writers, there will be elements that can be applied to whatever dream it is that you want to make a reality. Together we can make this the best year yet and set ourselves on the road to making our dreams come true.

Schedule

  • Monday I will be posting an inspiring quote and teaching you how to put the thoughts behind it into action to help you with your writing.
  • Wednesday will be more of a mixed bag, posting writing advice, book reviews, progress reports or responding to any reader queries. If you have any topics you would like me to cover in a post you can use the contact form, or drop me an email to alana_mander(at)yahoo(dot)co(dot)uk.
  • Friday Weekly Inspirations. These posts will be an inside look into some of the things I have written in my writer's notebook, as well as links to any sites, articles or posts that have inspired me that week.
